Conscious Leadership & Ethics Summit 2023

Conscience over compliance – A new paradigm for business.

The message at the Conscious Leadership and Ethics Summit 2023 was clear. Governments
worldwide are failing their people and that both business leaders and the man inthe street are going to have to step into the breach.

This year’s Summit gives us both comfort and hope that there is responsible, conscious leadership that serves humanity and that our heavily distressed planet has not been totally abandoned. The conscious leader at the helm of a conscious company is a real differentiator and game changer. In the words of the writer and philosopher Voltaire: “Life is a shipwreck but we must not forget to sing in the lifeboats.” If governments fail to serve the people, business leaders – driven by integrity and moral purpose – have to man the lifeboats with reason, thinking and balance. One of life’s most precious gifts is the gift of hope and we have to be optimistic in the belief that leaders can make an important contribution and restore the moral balance in South Africa. History has shown that courage can be contagious and hope can take a life all of its own.

The theme this year was Conscience Over Compliance with thought-provoking conversations from local and international speakers including Gift of the Givers’ Dr Imtiaz Sooliman; Build One South Africa’s Mmusi Maimane and the Conscious Leadership Academy’s Dr. Jan Bellermann. There were also three panel sessions featuring some of the country’s top business leaders.
